Dr. Theo Prousis is a distinguished professor of European and Russian History at the University of North Florida.  Luckily for us, in his final semester before retirement, he agreed to be the first guest on the UNF History Matters Podcast.  Dr. Prousis has published numerous books and articles on topics dealing with the history of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Russia. In this interview, Dr. Prousis delves into his recent work on the British ambassador to the Ottoman Empire, Lord Strangford, and the Eastern question in the nineteenth century. Find out Dr. Prousis’s insightful answer on why history matters at the end of the episode.

Many thanks to Dr. Prousis for being our first guest, the UNF History Department for hosting the interview, and UNF’s Center for Instruction and Research Technology for helping us work out some of the technical issues.
